Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions carefully. They cancel and replace any previous versions.

By a) enrolling a dog with or b) permitting a dog to attend or c) accepting the Services of Rex in the City and its staff you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

Please print or save these terms for future use as we will not keep a file copy specifically for the transaction with you and we cannot guarantee that they will remain accessible on our website in future. These terms and conditions are available in the English language only.

DEFINITIONS

1) Capitalised terms have the following meanings in these terms and conditions:

a) “Client” – users of our Service.
b) “our Service/s”– any services we offer by means of our Regular Walking, or Ad hoc dog Walking, Regular Daycare, Ad hoc Daycare, Full Boarding, Short Stay Boarding or Overnight Boarding Daycare or Boarding service.
c) “Regular Client” – Clients who utilise our Service at least once a week.
d) “Ad hoc Client” – Clients who utilise our Service less than once a week.
e) “Walking” – 4 hours of dog care including1 session of dog walking exclusive of travel
f) “Regular Walking” – Walking booked on an consistent basis, at least once a week.
g) “Ad hoc Walking” – Walking booked on an non-consistent basis, less than once a week.
h) “Daycare” – between 7-8 hours of dog daycare, including pick up and drop off
i) “ Regular Daycare” – Daycare booked on an ongoing basis, at least once a week
j) “ Ad hoc Daycare” – Daycare booked on an non-consistent basis, less than once a week
k) “Boarding” – 24 hours of dog care from 8am-8am
l) “Short Stay Boarding” – Boarding service for less than 3 days
m) “Full Boarding” – Boarding service for 3 days or more
n) “Overnight only Boarding” – 12-15 hours of overnight dog care, including transport

GENERAL

1) Rex in the City may act in the Client’s absence as guardian of their dog and may perform or take any action which they deem necessary in order to protect and keep in good health the Client’s dog.

2) The Client agrees to ensure that their dog/s will be kept up to date on all vaccinations, de-worming and flea and tick treatments. Rex in the City cannot be held responsible if a dog contracts Kennel Cough whilst in our care.

3) Owner is to make full disclosure of any quality or characteristic problems which might make your dog not suitable for Walking, Daycare or Boarding; including behavioural or health problems, antisocial behaviour; including aggression, incontinence or lack of house training and excessive loud barking or whining. Failure on the part of the owner to disclose any matter which might render owner’s dog unsuitable for Walking, Daycare or Boarding Services will be deemed a material omission amounting to a fundamental breach of our agreement.

4) Acceptance into the pack of un-neutered dogs of either sex is at Rex and the City’s discretion.

5) Bitches in season will only be walked on lead, and only at Rex and the City’s the team’s discretion.

6) Entire males (other than puppies up to 9 months) will only be accepted at Rex and the City’s discretion.

7) The Client agrees to their dog being photographed, videotaped, and/or used in any media or advertising by Rex in the City without prior approval. All such media remains the property of Rex in the City.

8) We make every effort to contact the Client in the event of an emergency. We recommend Clients provide us with a contact number of a trusted third party should we be unable to make contact. However, we reserve the right to make decisions regarding your dog’s health provided it is at all times acting in the best interests of the dog and on the advice of a veterinary surgeon. The Client is responsible for the full cost of treatment for any injuries or illness that their dog receives treatment for whilst under the care of Rex in the City, together with any additional fees incurred whilst providing emergency care.

9) The Client agrees to provide keys/arrange access to the dog for the agreed walk. Failure to do so will result in a cancellation for that service and will be paid in full by the Client. Keys will be returned to the client either at the end of the contract or when requested. The key will only be used to collect and return the dog and for no other purpose, it will be kept safe, with no address on it.

10) Although Rex in the City holds Pet Business Insurance, pets must be insured by the client. Rex in the City reserves the right to refuse a booking for any animal which is not insured.

11) The client must provide all items necessary for pets to be adequately cared for in the client’s absence. (i.e. food, medication, tags, collars etc). Should pets require any additional supplies whilst in the care of Rex in the City, these will be purchased and added to the bill.

12) All dogs will undergo an introductory assessment or trial period to ensure that they are adequately trained and socialised.

13) Rex in the City reserves the right to cancel the contract at any time & with immediate effect if the dog does not respond well to the walker and/or other dogs.

14) Rex in the City will make every effort to continue normal service and all pre-booked pet care in adverse weather conditions. We do however not expect our staff to put their lives at risk to attend to pet bookings in very extreme weather conditions. We will notify you in cases where we are unable to reach your pet.

15) The Client is financially responsible for any loss or damage to property or vehicles caused by their dog whilst utilising the Service.

16) Client agrees to notify Rex in the City of any concerns/complaints within 24 hours of any appointments.

17) Rex in the City offers walks with other dogs and will do their utmost to ensure your dog’s safety and happiness whilst in their care. Your dog will come into contact with other dogs, both those enrolled with Rex in the City and dogs that are not with us.  This presents the risk of dog-on-dog aggression, fights, bites and injuries sustained in the course of supervised walks during which dogs will play and run around.  By using our services, the Client accepts these risks and that their dog may sustain injury and that Rex in the City cannot be held liable for any loss, injury or death of a pet either inside or outside whilst in our care.  All dog play is carefully monitored to avoid injury; however scratches, punctures or other injuries may occur despite our best supervision.

18) Rex in the City works hard to ensure your dog has great fun, social interaction and exercise whilst under our care. This generally involves the dogs walking and playing off-lead at the discretion of the dog walker on common land or in public parks. Should your dog run off or get lost we will do our absolute best to find them and will contact you to let you know.  If you would prefer us to keep your dog on a lead please let us know and we will adhere to that at all times.

BOOKING

1) WALKING

a) for Regular Clients with 1 or more regular booking of Services per week:

i) Regular Walking

(1) Requests must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

(2) Requests with less than 7 days notice will only be accepted at Rex and the City’s discretion. Late bookings may incur an discretionary administration charge of 10%.

(3) The Client may not swap their agreed regular days on an ad ad hoc basis.

(4) The Walking rate will be agreed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Walking’ rate.

ii) Ad hoc Walking

(1) Requests must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

(2) Requests with less than 7 days notice will only be accepted at Rex and the City’s discretion. Late bookings may incur an administration charge of 10%. Late bookings may incur a discretionary administration charge of 1%.

(3) The Walking rate will be agreed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Ad hoc Walking’ rate.

b) for Ad hoc Clients with less than 1 or more regular booking of Services per week:

i) Ad hoc Walking

(1) Requests must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

(2) Requests with less than 7 days notice will only be accepted at Rex and the City’s discretion. Late bookings may incur a discretionary administration charge of 10%.

(3) The Walking rate will be agreed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Ad hoc Walking’ rate.

2) DAYCARE

 a) for Regular Clients with 1 or more regular booking of Services per week:

 i) Regular Daycare

 (1) Requests must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

(2) Requests with less than 7 days’ notice will only be accepted at Rex and the City’s discretion. Late bookings may incur an administration charge of 10%.

(3) The Client may not swap the day of their agreed Regular Daycare on an ad hoc basis.

(4) The rate will be agreed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Daycare’ rate.

ii) Ad hoc Daycare

(1) Requests must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

(2) Requests with less than 7 days’ notice will only be accepted at Rex and the City’s discretion. Late bookings may incur an administration charge of 10%.

(3) The rate will be agreed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Ad hoc Daycare’ rate.

3) BOARDING

a) for Regular Clients with 1 or more regular booking of Services per week:

i) Full Boarding for 3 days or more

(1) Requests must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

(2) Requests with less than 1 week 7 days’ notice are only available for Regular Clients and will only be accepted at Rex and the City’s discretion. Late bookings may incur a discretionary administration charge of 10%.

(3) The Full Boarding rate will be agreed on booking [and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Full Boarding’ rate].

(4) To confirm Full Boarding bookings, payment is required in full at the time of booking. If no payment is made, we are not able to guarantee your place and may give it up to another Client.

ii) Short Stay Boarding for less than 3 days

(1) Short Stay Boarding is only available to Regular Clients.

(2) Requests must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

(3) Requests with less than 1 week notice are only available for Regular Clients and will only be accepted at Rex and the City’s discretion. Late bookings may incur an discretionary administration charge of 10%.

(4) The rate will be agreed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Short Stay Boarding’ rate.

(5) The Short Stay Boarding rate will be agreed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘short stay boarding’ rate.

(6) To confirm Short Stay Boarding bookings, payment is required in full at the time of booking. If no payment is made, we are not able to guarantee your place and may give it up to another Client.

b) for Ad hoc Clients with less than 1 regular booking of Services per week:

i) Full Boarding for 3 days or more is only available. Short Stay Boarding is NOT offered.

(1) Requests must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

(2) Requests with less than 7 days’ notice will not be accepted.

(3) The rate will be agreed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Boarding’ rate.

(4) To confirm Full Boarding bookings, payment is required in full at the time of booking. If no payment is made, we are not able to guarantee your place and may give it up to another Client.

4) OVERNIGHT ONLY BOARDING

a) for Regular Clients with 1 or more regular booking of Services per week:

 i) Overnight Boarding for 12-15 hours of overnight dog care, including transport but excluding walks.

(1) Requests must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

(2) Requests with less than 7 days’ notice are only available for Regular Clients and will only be accepted at Rex and the City’s discretion. Late bookings may incur a discretionary administration charge of 10%.

(3) The rate will be agreed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Overnight Boarding’ rate.

 b) for Ad hoc Clients with less than 1 regular booking of Services per week: 

i) Overnight Boarding is NOT offered.

PAYMENT

For our current rates, please see www.rexinthecity.com. The rates will change from time to time and will be confirmed on booking.

GENERAL

i) All invoices will incur an administration charge of 1%. This charge covers expenses related to administering the Service provided to Clients.

ii) Payments should be made within 5 days of receipt of invoice. After this interest may be added.

iii) The preferred method of payment is collection by Direct Debit for Regular Clients. Bank transfer, cheque or cash is also accepted. [however Rex and the City may add an administration fee of 2.5% to invoices not collected by Direct Debit]. If the Client fails to make any payment due to Rex in the City by the due date for payment, then the Client shall pay interest on the overdue amount at the rate of 5% per cent per annum above National Westminster Bank plc’s base rate from time to time. Such interest shall accrue on a daily basis from the due date until actual payment of the overdue amount, whether before or after judgment.

1) WALKING

a) for Regular Clients with 1 or more regular booking of Services per week:

i) Regular Walking

(1) The Client will be invoiced for Services and any ancillary costs (such as Late Booking, emergency care etc.) in arrears at the end of each month at the Walking rate.

(2) The rate will be confirmed on booking and added to the Client’s invoice at the ‘Walking’ rate.

ii) For additional Ad hoc Walking:

(1) The Client will be invoiced for Services and any ancillary costs (such as Late Booking, emergency care etc.) in arrears at the end of each month.

(2) The rate will be confirmed on booking and added to the Client’s invoice at the ‘Ad hoc Walking’ rate.

b) for Ad hoc Clients with less than 1 regular booking of Services per week:

(1) The Client will be invoiced for Services and any ancillary costs (such as Late Booking, emergency care etc.) in arrears at the end of each month.

(2) The rate will be confirmed on booking and added to the Client’s invoice at the ‘Ad hoc Walking’ rate.

2) DAYCARE

a) for Regular Clients with 1 or more regular booking of Services per week:

i) Regular Daycare

(1) The Client will be invoiced for Services and any ancillary costs (such as Late Booking, emergency care etc.) in arrears at the end of each month.

(2) The rate will be confirmed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Daycare’ rate.

ii) For Ad hoc Daycare

(1) Requests must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

(2) Requests with less than 7 days’ notice will only be accepted at Rex and the City’s discretion. Late bookings may incur an administration charge of 10%.

(3) The rate will be agreed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Ad hoc Daycare’ rate.

b) for Ad hoc Clients with less than 1 regular booking of Services per week:

i) Ad hoc Daycare

(1) The Client will be invoiced for Services and any ancillary costs (such as Late Booking, emergency care etc.) in arrears at the end of each month.

(2) The rate will be confirmed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Ad hoc Daycare’ rate.

3) BOARDING

a) for Regular Clients with 1 or more regular booking of Services per week:

i) For Full Boarding

(1) To confirm Boarding bookings, payment is required in full at the time of booking. If no payment is made, we are not able to guarantee your place and may give it up to another Client.

(2) The rate will be confirmed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Boarding’ rate.

ii) For Short Stay Boarding

(1) To confirm Boarding bookings, payment is required in full at the time of booking. If no payment is made, we are not able to guarantee your place and may give it up to another Client.

(2) The rate will be confirmed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Short Stay Boarding’ rate.

b) for Ad hoc Clients with less than 1 regular booking of Services per week:

(1) To confirm Boarding bookings, payment is required in full at the time of booking. If no payment is made, we are not able to guarantee your place and may give it up to another Client.

(2) The rate will be confirmed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Boarding’ rate.

4) OVERNIGHT ONLY BOARDING

a) for Regular Clients with 1 or more regular booking of Services per week:

 i) Overnight Boarding

(1) The Client will be invoiced for Services and any ancillary costs (such as Late Booking, emergency care etc.) in arrears at the end of each month.

(2) The rate will be confirmed on booking and added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the Overnight Boarding rate.

CANCELLATION

 1) Rex in the City requires 7 days’ notice of cancellation or alteration for Services.

a) If more than 7 days notice is given, there is no charge.

b) If less that 7 days notice is given 100% of the fee is chargeable to cover administrative and management costs as well as to cover the loss of business.

2) The Client may not swap their agreed regular days on an ad hoc basis.

a) It may be possible to add occasional extra days as required, provided there is space in the pack.

b) These additional days will be added to the Client’s monthly invoice at the ‘Ad hoc Walking’ or ‘Ad hoc Daycare’ rate agreed between Rex in the City and the Client.

Changes to our Terms of Service, daily schedule, prices and services can be made at any time, without prior notice. It is up to the Client to check the details of our Terms of Service from time to time on the Rex in the City website. By booking the service, you agree to our Terms and Conditions.
